Double shift! Wednesday 29 March 2006
The morning session was the first opportunity to chat with alumni in the Far East and beyond. Due to time zones, calls to this area of the world are very limited.
So if it's 10 a.m. in Birmingham on 29 March, what time is it Sydney, Australia? The answer: 7 p.m.
Thank goodness for online time zone maps: http://www.worldtimezone.com/ -- here's one of our favorites. Makes sure we do not call North America or anywhere else at unseeemly times in the morning or evening.
The callers had great conversations with alumni in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Australia.
The evening shift started at 5:45, with Robert and Yemi on both sessions -- here's to your endurance!
Wonderful conversations with alumni including a confession about putting food colouring into the Aston fountain, managing a family dive business, a recurring dream about being lost in the main building (all of us who go to school or work here can commiserate), and a cavewoman-themed freakers ball.
